Description

TerraGuard™ Concealed Rock Surveillance System is essentially the Longhorn system—delivered already concealed inside a highly realistic rock. It’s built for rural crime such as illegal dumping, equipment theft, and poaching, and it also performs well in underdeveloped urban areas where metal theft and vandalism thrive.

Why TerraGuard

  • Ultra-realistic rock concealment blends into many environments.
  • Pinhole optics allow suspects to get close without realizing they’re on camera—ideal for face/plate evidence at close range.
  • Optional multi-camera builds for near 360° coverage (configuration dependent).
  • Quick installation because the system is already concealed.

Designed for Rural & Remote Investigations

TerraGuard was intentionally designed for locations where suspects feel comfortable operating in plain sight—remote roads, trailheads, rural easements, farm access paths, equipment laydowns, and dump sites. Because it looks natural and doesn’t “read” as a camera, TerraGuard helps preserve your placement and improves the likelihood of prosecution-grade evidence.

Deployment Guidance

  • Fast placement: In some scenarios, simply place the rock and walk away.
  • Close-contact risk: If a suspect may approach or handle the concealment, we recommend burying the bottom portion of the rock and dressing the scene with natural debris (leaves, pine needles, soil, etc.) so it appears completely undisturbed.
  • Orientation matters: Aim the pinhole toward approach paths, gates, pull-offs, or the most likely activity zone.

Longhorn-Class Endurance & Smart Activation

Like Longhorn, TerraGuard is engineered for long-duration operations. A remote wireless sensor (PIR by default) allows TerraGuard to remain in a deep sleep state for incredible standby time, then boot up only when activity occurs. This approach reduces false captures, preserves power, and supports long deployments in hard-to-service locations.

  • Standby: 12+ months (mission dependent)
  • Sensor range: Up to ~5 km line-of-sight; ~1 km wooded (estimated)
  • Evidence delivery: Options for remote evidence delivery and cellular live viewing (coverage dependent)

Camera Options

  • Close-range pinhole camera (standard configuration)
  • Multi-camera option for near-360° coverage (configuration dependent)
  • Longer-range camera swap for extended standoff distances
  • IR thermal option for specialty missions (including crude oil theft investigations)

Customization & Integration

Every environment and threat profile is different. MAXSUR can customize TerraGuard for your mission—including concealment style, sensor type, and integration requirements.

  • Concealment customization: rock styles, color/texture matching, and mission-specific concealment approaches
  • Sensor customization: PIR, vehicle sensor, beam break, vibration, or other trigger methods
  • Integration customization: electronics and workflows to align with your existing video management system (VMS) requirements

FAQs

Do I need to bury the rock?

Not always. In many scenarios, TerraGuard can be placed on the ground as-is. If suspects may approach the concealment, we recommend burying the bottom portion and dressing the scene with local debris (leaves, pine needles, soil) so placement looks completely natural.

What’s the difference between TerraGuard and Longhorn?

TerraGuard is essentially Longhorn-class performance delivered inside a highly realistic rock concealment with pinhole optics for close-range evidence capture and faster installs. Longhorn is better for users who want a more modular, repositionable kit-style system.

Can I get near-360° coverage?

Yes. TerraGuard can be configured with multiple cameras to reduce blind spots and approach near-360° coverage depending on the build and placement geometry.

What triggers recording?

TerraGuard uses a remote wireless sensor to keep the system in deep sleep until activity occurs. PIR is common, but we can also configure vehicle sensing, beam break, vibration, or other trigger methods based on your environment and objectives.

Can TerraGuard support long-range or thermal cameras?

Yes. Camera modules can be configured for longer-range viewing or IR thermal for specialty applications—such as crude oil theft investigations or low-light detection needs.
