A configurable covert utility pole transformer camera system designed for professional surveillance operations where a camera, cellular modem, antenna, power interface, and mounting package must blend naturally into utility-pole infrastructure.
The DTCAM-3 uses a utility pole transformer-style concealment to support covert video deployment in environments where electrical distribution equipment, overhead lines, alley infrastructure, utility corridors, public works sites, industrial zones, and parking areas are already part of the visual landscape. The system is designed around the same core integration approach as MAXSUR’s GBOX-Silver platform, but with a different concealment architecture.
Built to visually resemble common pole-mounted utility transformer equipment while housing the camera, modem, power, antenna, and internal integration components.
The camera can be positioned around the standard lower Lexan viewing band, through the bottom, or configured with specialized deployment mechanics depending on the operational need.
MAXSUR can configure the camera, modem, antenna, power, window treatment, mounting method, and actuation options around agency requirements and site constraints.
The standard DTCAM-3 configuration uses a lower transformer-body viewing band made from Lexan/polycarbonate, allowing the camera to view through the body of the concealment while preserving the utility-equipment appearance. Additional viewing and deployment options are available for agencies with specific viewing-angle, elevation, or operational requirements.
The standard configuration uses an approximately four-inch Lexan/polycarbonate viewing band cut into the lower portion of the transformer-style body. This gives the camera a concealed viewing path while maintaining a natural pole-transformer appearance.
For applications where a downward or near-pole perspective is preferred, MAXSUR can configure the camera to look through the bottom of the concealment. This option is available for an additional fee and may require a different camera, lens, mount, or internal layout.
For specialized missions, MAXSUR can build an actuator-controlled version that allows the camera to drop out of the bottom of the concealment by remote control. This option is custom-quoted based on camera weight, travel distance, control method, power budget, and agency requirements.
The standard DTCAM-3 package can be configured around a Microhard 5G/LTE modem and an Axis IP camera platform, giving agencies a strong default architecture for remote video access, cellular connectivity, and field deployment. As with GBOX-Silver, MAXSUR can also build around alternate modem and camera platforms when the agency has a preferred technical standard.
The default modem package uses Microhard cellular hardware for compact 5G/LTE connectivity. MAXSUR can also configure the system around customer-preferred modem platforms, carrier requirements, VPN standards, dual-SIM needs, GPS requirements, or existing IT policies.
The default camera package can be based on an Axis IP camera platform, including PTZ, compact PTZ, fixed-view, low-light, or specialized IP camera options. MAXSUR can configure the system around optical zoom, low-light performance, ONVIF compatibility, frame rate, analytics, onboard recording, or VMS integration.
Transformer-style concealment supports deployment in pole-line and utility infrastructure settings where the visual environment already includes overhead equipment.
Microhard 5G/LTE cellular modem option supports remote access, stand-alone connectivity, and agency-specific network configuration.
Low-profile 4G/5G/GPS antenna options support cellular performance while minimizing visual clutter on or around the concealment.
Standard lower viewing band provides a concealed path for video capture while helping preserve the transformer housing appearance.
Optional bottom-view configuration supports downward or near-pole observation angles for applications where the standard side band is not the best viewing geometry.
Optional actuator-controlled drop-down camera package can be custom-built for specialized applications requiring a deployable camera position.
Axis is available as a default camera platform, but MAXSUR can configure PTZ, fixed, low-light, zoom, ONVIF, or VMS-specific cameras to match requirements.
AC, DC, battery, solar-assisted, quick-disconnect, or customer-specified power interfaces can be configured based on deployment duration and available infrastructure.
MAXSUR can tune camera location, window placement, modem configuration, antenna routing, concealment finish, and mounting details to meet operational needs.
| System Area | Standard / Default Configuration | Custom Options Available |
|---|---|---|
| Concealment | Utility pole transformer-style body designed to house camera, modem, antenna, power, and integration components. | Alternate transformer size, finish, hardware detail, exterior treatment, or deployment-specific concealment features. |
| Viewing Window | Lower Lexan/polycarbonate viewing band integrated into the transformer-style body. | Bottom view, alternate band height, alternate window location, opacity tuning, or specialized viewing geometry. |
| Camera | Axis IP camera platform by default, configured around the required field of view and surveillance objective. | PTZ, compact PTZ, fixed, low-light, optical zoom, ONVIF, onboard recording, analytics, and VMS-specific camera options. |
| Cellular Modem | Microhard 5G/LTE modem platform by default for compact remote connectivity. | Alternate modem/router platforms, carrier-specific configurations, VPN/security settings, GPS, dual SIM, and agency IT requirements. |
| Antenna | Compact 4x4 MIMO 4G/5G/GPS antenna option. | Low-profile puck, remote-mount, directional, carrier-specific, or environment-specific antenna options. |
| Camera Mounting | Camera mounted to view through the lower transformer-body Lexan band. | Alternate side orientation, bottom-view camera, downward-looking camera, or actuator-controlled drop-down camera. |
| Actuation | Not included in the standard configuration. | Remote-control drop-down actuator package available as a custom option for specialized deployments. |
| Power | Configured based on agency power source and deployment requirements. | AC, DC, battery, solar-assisted, quick-disconnect, extended cable, or customer-specified power interfaces. |
| Mounting | Pole-mount hardware configured for transformer-style concealment installation. | Utility-coordinated mounting, customer-specified brackets, pole-specific mounting hardware, or custom installation support package. |
MAXSUR reviews the pole location, surrounding infrastructure, desired observation angle, power availability, cellular coverage, installation constraints, and agency IT/VMS requirements.
Customers may use the standard Microhard and Axis-based configuration, or request alternate components to match internal standards, carrier preferences, procurement specifications, or existing VMS environments.
MAXSUR determines whether the standard lower Lexan viewing band, bottom-view camera placement, or optional actuator-controlled drop-down configuration best supports the mission.
The transformer-style concealment, camera, modem, antenna, power, mounting, and any requested actuation hardware are integrated into a complete field-ready package.
