Description

Wireless Vehicle Sensor Unit

Vehicle-triggered, event-driven alerts for long-duration surveillance and remote-site monitoring.

This wireless vehicle sensor is built for environments where incidents are infrequent—but costly: poaching, illegal dumping, vandalism, industrial intrusion, and metal theft. By detecting vehicle presence at an approach point (driveway, access road, gate line, service entrance), it enables persistent monitoring without constant human attention.

MAXSUR commonly integrates this sensor into “wake-on-activity” architectures—where motion/vehicle detection triggers alerts, recording, lighting, or transmission only when needed. That makes it especially effective for long-term deployments where power conservation and signal discretion matter.

Ideal Use Cases

  • Poaching and illegal access on rural property
  • Illegal dumping and after-hours drive-up activity
  • Vandalism and repeat intrusion at isolated sites
  • Industrial and construction site theft (including metal theft)
  • Driveway, gate, yard, and service-road monitoring

How It Works

A buried probe detects vehicles in the monitored lane/approach and transmits an alert to a compatible long-range receiver. Multiple sensors can be paired to a single receiver to create a complete site alerting system.

Receivers commonly support multiple paired sensors (up to 16) and can distinguish sensors using unique alert tones.

Deployment Notes

  • Probe detects vehicles within approximately 10 ft (3 m)
  • Recommended burial depth: at least 3 inches (deeper with conduit in high-traffic areas)
  • Transmitter box performs best mounted on a wood post or tree and elevated ~4–5 ft
  • Keep probe at least 50 ft from main roads to reduce false alarms
Reality check

Wireless range is highly terrain-dependent. Hills, trees, metal siding, and other obstructions can reduce performance.

MAXSUR Pro Tip

Pair this vehicle sensor with a compatible receiver that provides dry contact (Form C relay) outputs. Those outputs can trigger third-party alerts and automations—like activating remotely located infrared illuminators, switching relays/digital inputs, or waking surveillance systems from deep sleep so cameras and comms only run when a vehicle is present.
