The MAXSUR WCVR72-DSHD is a covert dual-camera dash mount system designed for undercover mobile operations where discreet, vehicle-based documentation is required. Modeled after a common dashboard smartphone holder, the WCVR72-DSHD allows investigators to introduce covert surveillance into a vehicle environment in a natural, low-profile manner without altering the normal appearance of the dashboard.
This system is especially well-suited for documenting engagements occurring outside the driver-side or passenger-side windows, including roadside contacts, vehicle approaches, field interviews, controlled meetings, and other authorized investigative activity. Each side of the concealment includes a pinhole camera canted approximately 5° to improve the viewing angle toward activities occurring beside the vehicle in most dashboard placements.
The concealment is based on the form factor of widely available consumer smartphone dash holders, allowing it to blend into everyday vehicle interiors. The included semi-sticky gel mat helps hold the unit gently in place on the dashboard while also serving as the concealed access panel for the internal microSD card extensions.
The magnetic gel mat panel is retained by eight mini magnets, allowing fast access to the microSD card slots when needed while keeping the system clean and realistic during deployment. The gel mat can be cleaned periodically to maintain optimal adhesion.
The WCVR72-DSHD is equipped with the MAXSUR ConnectX camera platform, supporting onboard recording and WiFi-based setup, viewing, and configuration. For app connection, live viewing, recording settings, time/date configuration, and WiFi operation, please refer to the MAXSUR ConnectX supplemental manual.
The standard WCVR72-DSHD configuration includes two side-view cameras, one on each side of the concealment, optimized for documenting activity occurring out of the front driver or passenger side windows.
Optional camera configurations are available by request, including:
Power is supplied through the rear USB-C port. Simply connect the system to a USB-C cable and a suitable USB power source. For surveillance applications, MAXSUR recommends using low-wattage, low-amperage USB outlets that remain powered when the vehicle is off, when operationally appropriate.
The combined current draw for both cameras is approximately 300mA, making the system a low-draw solution for vehicle-based deployments.
Each camera records to a microSD card. The microSD card slots are located beneath the magnetic gel mat access panel on the underside of the concealment. Any quality microSD card rated for HD video may be used, with 32GB or larger recommended.
