MAXSUR Team Honors Veterans by Participating in the Bataan Memorial Death March
Every March, thousands gather at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico for the Bataan Memorial Death March—a grueling 26.2-mile ruck through desert and mountain terrain. This event is not only one of the toughest marathons in the world but also a profound tribute to the American and Filipino soldiers who endured the original Bataan Death March during World War II.
A Personal Challenge and a Collective Tribute
Alongside fellow veterans, I’ve completed this race four times, and our team did remarkably well for what we call “a bunch of old guys.” Make no mistake—this is one of the hardest physical challenges you can attempt. But what makes it worthwhile is the chance to meet the few remaining survivors of the real Bataan Death March, share time with fellow veterans, and honor their legacy in a tangible way. It’s also a great focal point for personal fitness and resilience.
